by shama 15. December 2013 08:00

15 December 2013, Hong Kong – Shama has joined the Salvation Army Recycling Programme since November 2012. As this is an on-going programme, Shama aims to collect clothing and goods through out the whole year and donate them to the needed ones.

The donated items are sorted, distributed, and sold in Family Stores of the Salvation Army. Some will be directly helping people in need, such as home alone elderly, street sleepers, ex-prisoners and Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) recipients. Shama has successfully collected over 200 pieces of clothes and electrical items from tenants and colleagues for Salvation Army in 2013.

The Salvation Army is an International Christian church and charity working in 126 countries and has been serving Hong Kong for over 80 years. With the commitment to transforming lives, caring for people and making disciples, the Salvation Army is currently operating 79 social services units, 32 schools and nurseries, 17 corps (churches) and 1 outpost and 15 Family Stores in Hong Kong and Macau. There are offices in Hong Kong, Beijing and Yunnan for poverty alleviation development in China.
